Skin is a living organ that responds to how we live. tonafu creates skincare that supports, rather than forces, the skin's natural abilities. Like the concept of yin and yang at the core of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the body and mind are designed to maintain balance against external pressures, internal forces, and the shifting events of daily life. There are times when that balance becomes harder to hold. But what restores it is the body itself. tonafu’s role is to support that process.

Every ingredient in a tonafu formula is naturally derived, choosing only carefully selected ingredients that work gently on the skin used every day. We intentionally preserve the natural scent that the ingredients themselves carry. We do not use essential oils or synthetic fragrances for our skincare range.

tonafu is manufactured at a COSMOS-certified organic and ethical skincare factory in Japan — one we chose because their approach to production aligns with what we need. No petroleum-based solvents are used at any stage. They are one of a small number of specialist facilities in Japan that manufacture cosmetic ingredients entirely in-house.

When it comes to ingredients, we do not rely on certification labels alone. Wild botanicals, traditional herbal materials, jojoba oil, beeswax — each is chosen individually, after careful review of its origin, safety, and effect on the skin.

If we are going to care for your skin with what the earth provides, it follows that we should return that care to the earth. tonafu bottles are made from recyclable glass — we hope to contribute to a production process that gives back to the environment with as little burden as possible. Our packaging uses bagasse paper, a material derived from sugarcane pulp that requires no virgin forest resources.
